The Drifters Bio:
Despite a revolving door line up, the Drifters' magnificent vocal strengths carried their career from the ' 50s into the ' 60s. Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun signed Clyde McPhatter, giving him his own band, the Drifters. The Drifters are probably best known for their classics "Under the Boardwalk," and "This Magic Moment." Their lush vocals had a timeless quality that changed just enough to stay fresh and cool for almost 50 years. In 1988, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted the seven significant contributors that made up the Drifters' legacy.
