Brooks' breathy, growling voice plays like a poor country cousin of Alanis' . She's less angry and a little cuddlier. Brooks graduated from Corvallis High School at the age of 15 and soon after started performing around the Pacific Northwest. Brooks has her own production company, Kissing Booth Music, and has produced albums for Jennifer Love Hewitt and Hilary Duff. In 2004, Brook's "Shine" was chosen as the theme song for the television talk show, "Dr. Phil." Brooks gave birth to a son in 2004 and was inspired to record a children's album called "If I Could Be..."
