Early ' 80s hard rockin' AOR band from Canada. You know most of their hits by heart. One of them is "Workin' For the Weekend." Loverboy took their name from a suggestion Mike Reno's girlfriend gave them. They turned "coverboy" into Loverboy. Loverboy holds the record for the most Juno Awards (Canadian Grammys) ever received: the band won six in 1980. Remember the SNL sketch where Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley auditioned for Chippendales to "Working for the Weekend?" On November 30, 2000, Loverboy's bassist was declared dead after being swept overboard off the coast of San Francisco.
