LeToya was an original member of Destiny's Child, but left along with LaTavia Roberson in 2000. In March 2000, Luckett and Roberson filed a highly publicized lawsuit against Destiny's Child manager Mathew Knowles. The daughter of a singer, LeToya was born in Houston. She was heavily involved in her local church. Along with her mother, Pam, LeToya opened a clothing boutique in Houston dubbed "Lady Elle."
