After his debut performance of "Long Black Train" at the Grand Ole Opry, Josh Turner received two standing ovations. Josh Turner honed his trademark baritone by singing as low as he could in his church quartet as a young boy. Christy McDonald performs Josh Turner's "Long Black Train" on the "Nashville Star 2005 Finalists" album. Shortly after making a pilgrimage to Nashville, Turner was signed to MCA records after they listened to two of his songs.
