One time aggressive emo rockers have since received major label polish and now teeter on the brink of success. The band was formed in 1993 in Mesa, Ariz., by childhood friends Jim Adkins and Zach Lind. They took their name from a crayon cartoon that Adkins' younger brother drew of him when they were kids. JEW were signed and eventually dropped by Capitol Records. They struck a deal with Dreamworks for their 2001 album. They have EPs out on Fueled By Ramen, the Jacksonville, Fla., indie home of Fall Out Boy and Less Than Jake.
