Dr Hook Bio:
Dr. Hook played dirty hippies in the early 1970s; slick soft rock dudes in the mid to late ' 70s. In the ' 80s they gave up. Lead singer Ray Sawyer wore an eye patch. Not because he was a pirate but because he' d been in a serious car wreck in 1967. Famous poet Shel Silverstein wrote many of Dr. Hook's songs including all the tracks on their self titled debut album. Dr. Hook's song "Cover of the Rolling Stone," was written in hopes of the band getting featured there, and it worked. Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show filed for bankruptcy in 1974 reborn as just Dr. Hook releasing the fittingly titled, "Bankrupt."
