Alice In Chains Bio:
This heavily influential band had a sound too unique to be considered Metal, yet more visceral than your basic rock. It's vocalist Layne Staley's aggressive, gravely vocals that seem to pop up in every other nu metal band. Sadly, in April of 2002, vocalist Layne Staley was found dead of a lethal overdose of heroin and cocaine. Guitarist and co founder Jerry Cantrell dedicated his second solo album, "Degraduation Trip," to Staley. The band reunited in 2005 for a tsunami benefit concert with help of Pat Lachman (formerly of Damageplan) on vocals.
